News & Events THE 12TH MOUNT MALARAYAT CHAIRMAN’S CUP TEES OFF ON JANUARY 23 The Mount Malarayat Golf & Country Club in Lipa City, Batangas opens its fairways for the 12th Chairman’s Cup Tournament on Saturday, 23 January 2010. The tournament was created by Arch. Antonio Turalba, Sr., chairman of the Active Group, for the benefit of 30 Turalba Foundation scholars who are pursuing their college education at De La Salle College Lipa. The Active Group, now celebrating its 40th year as one of the country’s leading real estate companies, is the developer of the world-class Mount Malarayat Golf & Country Club. Mount Malarayat’s 27-hole all-weather championship golf course, which hosted the 89th Philippine Open, was designed by the world-renowned J. Michael Poellet Design Group. The golf course was recently awarded by the highly-regarded Asian Golf Monthly magazine as “the best golf course in the Philippines.” The course’s signature Mt. Makulot Hole No. 7 has been voted by Golf Magazine as among the “Top 500 Best Holes in the World.” The Chairman’s Cup is open to Mount Malarayat club members and guests/sponsors. The 18-hole Stroke Play Competition begins with a double barrel tee-off at the Mt. Lobo / Mt. Malipunyo courses at 7:00 AM. The handicapping scoring system will be used on club members, while guests/sponsors will earn scores based on the System 36 mode. Classification shall be divided according to the number of participants in both the members and guests/sponsors categories. Club Car and Texas Eagle golf carts await players who make a hole-in-one. Entry fees to the Mount Malarayat 10th Chairman's Cup are Php 1,500.00 for club members, Php 3,000.00 for guests/sponsors. Giveaways and raffle prizes await tournament participants. The prestigious Asian Golf Monthly magazine recently named the Mount Malarayat Golf & Country Club in its annual listing of Asia’s Best Golf Courses as the “Best Golf Course in the Philippines.” Mike Sebastian, the publisher of the regional golf magazine, signed the highly-coveted certificate awarding Mount Malarayat the distinction. The award is the result of a readership survey and is widely acknowledged as the region’s most respected golfing poll. Asian Golf Monthly is the only English language golf magazine that spans Asia and is devoted solely to promoting and covering the game of golf in the region.
